OK, Izzy is sound asleep now, so we have a minute to write an update.
So to start back at the beginning… our original Due Date was October 1. We were nervous enough getting to that date and being “ready.” And well, ready for what came next we were NOT.
A few weeks before our Due Date we got word that Izzy’s heart was showing signs of distress (possibility of surgery – high). We were shocked, overwhelmed, and scared. Our “plans” completely changed… we now had a brand new OB doctor, delivered at Texas Children’s Hospital, and are now currently at the CVICU.
Anticipation of birth was tough, she was comfortable and did not want to come out. DR finally induced and while still long and a bit tough – mommy and baby did awesome with no complications during natural delivery.
October 5, 2012 – the bestest day of all our days. Isabel Teresa Gomez was born at 2:07 p.m.
Not going to go into details, but basically the more than competent TCH staff prepped Izzy for her heart check-up (Mommy got a minute to hold her), staff transferred her to CVICU and did their thing. Everyday our baby girl shows signs of getting stronger, but all we can do now is wait. She might still need surgery, but there is also a possibility she might not. Either way, it’s up to her – not parents, not doctors.
So that’s where we are after 5 days. Please don’t ask for details “online” here or on Facebook (they are not important). All we ask is that you keep our baby Izzy in your thoughts and prayers.
And if you really feel the need to help, the Ronald McDonald House and any TCH charity would be happy to hear from you and your donations.
God willing, this is just the beginning of a great life adventure…
